Description about M.Ed Programme:

The candidates selected in the written test will be allotted any of three colleges mentioned as per the score in the merit list.

Department of Education, C.U has total Thirty Five seats for the M.Ed programme. The course fee is Rs 2804/- only.

David Hare Training College, also has Thirty Five seats and the fee structure is Rs 5500/-

Institute of Education for Women, Hastings House, total seats are 35 and the fee is Rs 4550/-

Applicants who have secured minimum 50% in his/her Master of Arts, Science or Commerce programme and have got the Honors degree in bachelors programme  along with the B.Ed ( 55% marks) qualification.

Criteria for Selecting:

The university has whole discretion to select the suitable candidates for the programme and have reservation system in the offered courses such as for Scheduled Caste 22% seats are reserved, for Physically Challenged persons 3% seats are reserved and 6% for Scheduled Tribe candidates. Working candidates have to produce the NOC certificate at the application form submission time. 

Examination Pattern:

Candidates need to take the objective type questions that will also incorporate the negative marks with it. Right answer will fetch two marks, and incorrect will deduct ½ marks, no marks will be awarded for non attempted question. The tie will break by considering those candidates who got the less minus marks in the written test.

Application Cost:

Unreserved Applicants need to pay Rs 100/- and Reserved Applicants require to pay Rs 50 only at the counter of the University’s Admission office.

Age Restraint:

Candidates who are fresher must not be more than age of 40 yrs with respect to 30/06/2013 while candidates working in any organization, school or college must not have crossed the age of 55 yrs with respect to 30/06/2013. The provisions in age freedom of five yrs are provided to SC, PD and ST applicants.

Application Submission:

Candidates are required to submit the completely filled application form along with the attested copy of the graduation mark sheets and any other professional qualification certificates as well as the date of birth certificate as an evidence of proof of age. All this can be submitted to the Office of the Secretary (Acting), Alipur Campus 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata-27 (Office, Department of Education). It is to note that any application without complete information will be immediately rejected. Candidates need to check the official website of the Calcutta University for further information.
